The Maine Small Business Coalition wants Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to support the Safer Chemicals Act of 2011. Members of the group say the act would take place of a 35-year-old law they say is outdated and ineffective at protecting the public and letting them know about chemicals used in products. Small business owners say it will make things easier on them. ” Instead of having to do a lot of research on our own and not always being able to come up with answers about the products that we’re using, it would provide a way for us to know and be able to make better judgments without having to do so much work on our own,” said Betsy Lundy, owner of Central Street Farmhouse in Bangor.
