UMaine Football Triumphs Over 5th Ranked Delaware 

UMaine Football opening their conference schedule today. With a 2-1 record entering this week, today was a chance to prove that they are a team to look out for in the CAA. The Black Bears welcoming Delaware to Orono. Last year, the Blue Hens reached the national championship game and they enter today ranked fifth in the nation.In a game you could see on the CW. We start with the last play of the third quarter. Black Bears trailing 17-14. Warren Smith completes one to Derrick Session, takes it 56 yards for the UMaine first down. Maine starts the fourth on the Delaware 18.The very next play, Pushaun Brown rushes around the end. 18 yards to the house for the touchdown. With the PAT, the Black Bears go in front 21-17.A little more than five minutes later, same score. Delaware QB Tim Donnelly drops back to pass. His throw is picked off. Vinson Givens with the big grab. Maine takes over.Maine’s first play off the turnover, Warren Smith hands off to Pushaun Brown. He cuts back, cuts again, then goes 70 yards. Nearly gets into the endzone. Those long runs can tire you out. Brown would score a few plays later to make it 28-17 UMaine. 193 yards rushing for Brown today. Delaware had no answer.Next Delaware possession, Tim Donnelly’s first pass is picked off again. This time its Jerron McMillian. The Black Hole defense picked off four passes this afternoon. The Black Bears would tack on a field goal off this turnover.Maine with their biggest win in years. They take down the fifth ranked team in the nation. UMaine over Delaware 31-17.
