Brewer Housing Authority Receives 2.4 Millon Dollar Grant for Educational Facility

The Brewer Housing Authority has been awarded a 2.4 million dollars in federal money from the US Housing and Urban Development to create an educational facility.The facility will offer classes through Eastern Maine Community College.There will be four classrooms and a computer training room.There will also be a drop off center for children while their parents go to school.Executive Director of the Brewer Housing Authority Gordon Stitham calls this a win-win for the city of Brewer and surrounding areas.”Along with education, our residents, it’ll also help some of the people in the community that maybe don’t have transportation to go to Bangor to classes, if classes are being held at the center they will be able to attend right here.”A groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility is scheduled for March of next year.
