Farmingdale Man Shot By Police Died of Head, Neck Wounds

The medical examiner’s office says a man from Farmingdale shot and killed by state police died of gunshot wounds to the head and neck. Officials say 41-year-old Paul Fritze was shot around 8:30 p.m. Saturday after confronting police. They were called to a house on Bowman Street after Fritze allegedly entered a neighbor’s home with a gun during a birthday party and opened fire. No one was hurt inside the house.State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland says Fritze was shot after a four-hour standoff. The trooper who fired on him was placed on administrative leave with pay, a standard practice following a deadly shooting.
