Maine Warden Service Reminds People of ATV Safety After Two Separate Accidents Saturday 

Two separate ATV accidents Saturday night hospitalized several people with serious injuries.In Robbinston an accident on the John Tree Farm Road sent two people to Calais Regional Hospital.Officials say around 6 pm an ATV driven by Rebecca Stanhope attempted to pass another ATV driven by Doug Smith of Princeton, John Stanhope was a passenger.The ATVs touched tires and both went into the woods, hitting large trees.Smith was not injured. Rebecca is being treated for a collapsed lung and John is being treated for broken ribs and internal injuries.In Sumner speed was determined to be the cause of another ATV accident.Authorities say 35-year-old Peter Harrington was operating his ATV on Abbott Hill Road and hit a tree. His 11-year-old step-son was riding with him.The minor was treated and released with scrapes and bruises. Harrington sustained serious injuries that are reportedly life threatening.Officials say none of the people involved in either accidents were wearing helmets.
