Ground Work Under Way for Multi-Million Dollar Medical Center in Augusta 

The ground work is under way for what will become Augusta’s largest private employer.The MaineGeneral Medical Center is a 312-million dollar project.A formal groundbreaking is set for Friday.MaineGeneral says the project should be completed in 2014.At the peak of construction it’s expected to employ 630 workers. The Maine Development Foundation estimates the project will bring 266-million into the state in direct and indirect spending. When it’s completed, the new hospital will employ more than 38,000 people.
