USPS Looking at Closing Maine Processing Plant

The U.S. Postal Service might wind up closing its mail processing plant in Hampden. The USPS has announced plans to conduct a study to see if the Hampden operation should be consolidated into the processing and distribution center in Scarborough. The study is expected to wind up early next year.If the study makes a case for consolidation, the postal service would then hold a public meeting to get public feedback and explain any potential changes. The postal service lost $8.5 billion dollars last year and is on target to lose even more than that this year.
