Suspect Pleads Guilty In Credit Union Robbery Case

The man accused of robbing a downtown credit union in may pleaded guilty Tuesday in US District Court.32-year-old Thaddeus McDonald of Augusta was indicted in July in connection with a robbery at the Penobscot County Federal Credit Union.McDonald reportedly admitted to robbing the credit union of more than $6,000dollars — telling police he committed the crime out of desperation after the death of his wife and loss of his children.McDonald is the second person this year to be charged with robbing the Penobscot County Federal Credit Union.20-year-old Donovan Steen Junior of Bangor pleaded guilty to robbing the credit union in January.McDonald faces up to 20 years in prison and a possible mandatory minimum 10 years because of his criminal record.
