Judge Rules Woman Accused of Setting Grandmother on Fire Not Competent to Stand Trial 

A judge has ruled an Ellsworth woman accused of setting her grandmother on fire is not competent to stand trial. 26-year-old Emily Cole is charged with attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault.Court documents say in May cole was putting gasoline on pine needles at her grandparents’ house on Broadway in Bangor.Hr grandmother told her to stop.Police say that’s when Cole doused her in fuel and lit her on fire.Cole is at Fiverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta, where she’ll continue to be evaluated to see if she can become fit for trial. No word yet on when she’ll be back in court.
