Portland Police Seek Man in Maine Shooting Death

Portland police are searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting that shut down a busy street, snarling rush-hour traffic. Acting Police Chief Michael Sauschuck says people reported hearing gunshots around 4:30 a.m. Monday outside a gas station on outer Congress Street. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Sauschuck said police have not confirmed the victim’s identity and that detectives have interviewed witnesses who heard the shots and saw the victim on the sidewalk. Sauschuck said he’s not speculating on a motive as the investigation moves forward. No arrests have been made. (AP)
