An extra sweet “welcome home” for some National Guard troops Wednesday afternoon.Members of the Iowa National Guard stopped at Bangor International Airport on the way home from serving seven months in Afghanistan.Folks from a local daycare and Girl Scouts were on hand for the arrival, giving out Girl Scout cookies as a way to say thank you. ” It’s nice to see American faces and just, ya know, thanking us for what we’ve done and saying welcome home. It just feels good. It’s a good feeling,” said Captain Gavin Sandvig, with the Iowa National Guard.” It was really nice to see them, that they’re finally home and stuff,” said Holly Rand, who was helping hand out cookies.
