Child Dead After Jackman Home Hit By Log Truck

A five year old boy has been killed in Jackman, after a logging truck crashed into the home where he was sleeping.Authorities say the truck was travelling on Main Street when it went off the road, struck some telephone poles and then ran into the home.The crash happened around 2:30 this morning.The young victim was sleeping on a downstairs couch at the time.We’re told many of the logs fell into the house.Other family members were also home at the time, but they were not injured.The driver of the truck has been taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with unknown injuries.We’re told the logging truck was from Canada.The accident remains under investigation.Main Street in Jackman was closed immediately following the accident but as of 8:30am one lane was reopened to traffic.
