Police are investigating a three vehicle crash in Newburgh. It happened Friday afternoon. According to police, two pick up trucks and a U-Haul crashed at the intersection of Route 69 and Route 9.Police say the U-Haul’s driver was unfamiliar with the area and went through the intersection without stopping at the flashing red light. We’re told the U-Haul hit a pick up truck hauling a tractor and the collision sent them both into the other truck.”This is a common area for accidents. We’ve got to have people pay attention to this intersection. There’s been a lot of work in this area over the years to pay attention to this particular intersection for people simply coming through it, crossing a major highway,” said Chief Deputy Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff Department. There was significant damage to all 3 vehicles. Five people were reviewed for unknown injuries. We’re told some were taken to the hospital.
