State Investigates Land Sale to Warden

State lawmakers plan to review the state’s sale of property near the former state prison in Thomaston to Warden Patricia Barnhart for $175,000, far below its assessed value. The chair of the criminal justice committee says the sale “raises red flags.”The property includes a house, which for years was provided to wardens, as well as two other buildings. Acting State Bureau of General Services Director Betty Lamoreau says the price is in line with other properties sold in the area.
