Starting Tuesday, State Police will be stepping up their efforts to check commercial truck drivers. It’s an effort to make Maine’s highway safer. The three-day campaign is part of a national program called Roadcheck 2011, put on by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. State troopers and police will be checking drivers and vehicles on I-95 in Houlton, Old Town, Pittsfield, Sidney, York and Kittery. We’re told roving patrols will also stop drivers on other Maine roads.
