LePage Names Acting Commissioner to head MDECD 

Governor Paul LePage has nominated the acting commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development as commissioner.George Gervais, of Hampden, has served as acting commissioner since April. LePage announced his nomination Monday.Gervais also has served as assistant commissioner, development program manager and business development specialist with the department since 2008.Before joining the department, Gervais was a senior loan officer at Carteret Mortgage Corporation and Dedicated Mortgage Associates. His nomination must be reviewed by the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development and confirmed by the Senate.(The Associated Press)
