The Maine Renewable Energy Association premiered a film at the Penobscot Theatre Sunday. Its called Wind Energy in Maine: Clean, Renewable and Homegrown. The film offers a close up and personal account of how wind power projects have fit into the landscape in a number of communities providing environmental and local benefits. Many Maine citizens are featured in the film. Along with business owners who tell their stories, including the big picture energy perspective.Former Maine Governor Angus King was the emcee at Sunday’s premiere.” The main reason I’m here is that Maine is in a real energy crisis, I think. All you have to do is drive by the gas station and we’ve got to start seriously thinking about how to get off oil and one way to do that is electricity. Using electricity for heat, for transportation and if we do that where’s the power going to come from? It’s really about choices.”The film will eventually be available online and for civic groups to use.
