Governor LePage Looking to Cut MPBN Funding 

Governor LePage wants to pull the plug on state funding for the Maine Public Broadcasting Network.He says that would save about $200,000,000 a year.The governor has proposed a $6.1 billion budget for the next two years and says he needs to find $4,000,000 dollars to balance it.He had considered wiping out Clean Election Act funds for candidates for governor but has opted instead to cut funding to MPBN. Public broadcasting officials say they’ll fight to have the funding restored.They say the cuts amount to 20% of MPBN’s operating budget.
