Thomaston Couple Face Heroin Charges

A couple from Thomaston who fought the Dragon Products cement company over dust emissions are facing heroin charges.Drug agents arrested 42-year-old Stephen Darney Tuesday at his home on Old County Road. They say they seized 280 bags of heroin, worth about $6,000. We’re told they also found drug equipment and three guns. Darney was charged with trafficking heroin and possession of afirearm by a prohibited person, based on a previous felony conviction. His wife, 40-year-old Kathy Darney, was summonsed for possession of heroin. Stephen Darney appeared in court Wednesday where his bail was set at $10,000 cash. He remains in the Knox County Jail. The Darney’s tried to sue Dragon Products for damage to their home but a federal judge rejected the claim in March.
