Unity College Holds Greenest Commencement in School History 

Maine’s environmentally oriented Unity College planned to hold its greenest graduation ever on Saturday, with recycled diplomas, composting of food wastes, and one commencement program for each family and each graduate to save paper.Unity says it’s not sure whether Saturday afternoon’s graduation was be the greenest in the country. But the central Maine school says it’s certainly be the greenest in its 45-year history.Unity awarded 110 bachelor of science degrees. Author and sustainable agriculture activist Gary Nabhan was commencement speaker.Local and organic foods comprise nearly three quarters of the total food prepared for the day’s events.
