Veterans Clinic Gets New Home

A project that’s been years in the making finally came to fruition in Bangor on Thursday. The Veterans Affairs Maine Healthcare System moved into a new space that’s the first of its kind in the state. The facility will offer veterans services that they couldn’t get in the old building on Hancock Street.VA treats about six-thousand veterans already, and they expect this facility to help even more.Since veterans travel from all over for care, clinic coordinator, Bridgett Brozyna, say this project was really driven by patient need.”They needed these services closer to home, and not needing to travel in such a distance because Maine is such a large state. Especially for the elderly veterans that we have have to travel in the winter time. It was a huge burden for them.”The hospital will open for business on Monday.
