Newburgh Residents Head to Polls to Vote for Board of Selectmen Positions 

Newburgh residents are heading to the polls. to vote for the two vacant seats on their Board of Selectmen.Two candidates are running for a two year contract and three others are vying for a one year term.Mike Burns has been the only selectman since March, after one was ousted and the two others resigned.The former Deputy Town Treasurer, Cindy Dunton pleaded guilty this week to stealing nearly $200,000 from the town.Town Manager Rick Briggs says they haven’t been able to make certain decisions without a full board, which has put a strain on the town.He says the town is ready to move forward.” It’s been a very long and difficult year. A lot of emotions, a lot of feelings. It’s tiring. Certainly they’re ready to move on.”The polls are open until 7 pm Wednesday night.Briggs says a tentative board meeting has been set for Tuesday, April 19th.
