The U.S. Coast Guard and the Maine Marine Patrol have stopped searching the waters off of Belfast after a “may day” call. The Coast Guard says the distress call came in about 4:40 Wednesday afternoon.Coast Guard officials say they used a jet, a helicopter and two search boats to cover an area in the ocean where that call is believed to have originated from but they didn’t find anything. They say there are also no reports of overdue vessels or missing boaters right now.
