Lawmaker Submits New Cell Phone Warning Bill

Updated 4 years ago

A year after Maine lawmakers rejected a bill requiring warnings about cellular phone use, a Sanford lawmaker is back with a new version of the legislation. Democratic Rep. Andrea Boland’s new bill calls for warning labels on cell phones. Warnings would be required on cell phones, and notices would have to be posted by cell phone retailers warning users of potential health hazards and how to use cells phones more safely. A year ago, a watered-down version of a similar measure was rejected. It directed Maine’s health website to include links to existing federal cell phone advisories and encouraged more research on the issue. Boland’s new bill is based on a similar bill in Oregon. (AP)
