Officials in Camden want to make sure everyone has a say on a plan to turn over the old tannery in town to a film production company. So they’re planning a referendum vote on the project. Last week, selectmen approved a deal with B. D’Turman’D Entertainment to break ground on the site of the former Apollo Tannery. Camden offered to give away the land to a company that would provide at least two-dozen fulltime jobs. Initially, officials planned to have a town meeting on April 7th where residents would vote on the idea. The town’s development director says they now want a referendum, which will give people a chance to cast absentee ballots. Brian Hodges says officials are meeting tomorrow morning to talk about the idea and possibly set a date for that vote.Hodges says the town meeting in April will be a turned into a public hearing to give folks a chance to learn more about the project.
