Winthrop Man Sentenced for Stealing Guns

A man from Winthrop is going to prison for more than eight years for stealing guns from a store in Winthrop. On Monday, a federal judge in Bangor sentenced 49-year-old John Woodley to 100 months behind bars. He admitted to stealing three dozen guns and ammunition from Audette’s Hardware store last summer. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. Police say Woodley broke into the store by climbing through the roof.He was also ordered to pay $2,300 in restitution and serve three years of supervised release when he’s out of prison.
