York Hockey Wins First Ever Hockey State Title 

The winter season in high school sports is officially in the books. Today the two state champs in high school hockey were crowned. In Class ‘A’, Thornton Academy needed two overtimes to beat Lewiston 4-3. The Class ‘B’ final is a rematch of last year’s state game. York and Brewer. The Witches won last year. Today, going for two in a row.York got on the the board late in the first period. Anthony Figlioli with the power play goal. York led 1 to 0.Brewer would tie it up just 48 seconds later. Kyle Alexander with the honors. It would be tied at 1 after one.Moving ahead to the 3rd. The Witches take advantage of a power play. Captain Evan Nedeau puts Brewer up 3-2 with six minutes to go.York would respond two and half minutes later. Figlioli sets up Craig Decato for his second goal of the game.The game would go to overtime and just 43 seconds in, Figlioli works behind the net and hits it off the goalies stick into the net.York wins 4-3 in overtime. It is the Wildcats first ever hockey state title.
