Maine Hockey’s Season Comes to a Close at Merrimack 

For the Maine Hockey team to reach the NCAA Tournament, the Black Bears need to win this weekend best of three series at Merrimack College. Last night, they couldn’t hold on to a 2-0 lead, losing 5-4. Tonight, the Black Bears with their backs against the wall, needing a win on the road at Merrimack.Tim Whitehead going with Dan Sullivan in net. No score through the first 14 minutes. Merrimack strikes first. Jeff Velleca beats Sullivan. 1-0 Warriors. That’s how it stayed after one.Then Merrimack opens it up in the second period. Nearly four minutes in. Carter Madsen past Sullivan. 2-0 Merrimack.It was 3-0 merrimack when maine gets on the board. From distance it’s Brian Flynn with his team leadnig 20th goal of the year. 3-1 Merrimack.But it all went down hill from there. Less than three minutes after Maine scores, Merrimack scores again. The Warriors take agme two and the weekend series with a 6-2 win over Maine. For the Black Bears, their season comes to an end with an overall record of 17-12-7.
