Hearings Begin Monday for Anthem Rate Hike

State regulators will hold public hearings, beginning Monday, on a request by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to raise its insurance rates. Starting July 1st, the company wants to increase its rates for six plans by an average 9.7 percent. The company has about 11,000 customers in Maine. The Bureau of Insurance is hosting public comment sessions and hearings on the rate hike. The first one is Monday at the University of Maine Corbett Building, beginning at 5 o’clock.
