Bowdoin Women’s Basketball Preps for Sweet 16 of D-III Tourney

There is only one team left in the state still playing basketball. The Bowdoin Women are in the Sweet 16 of the D-3 tournament. Tomorrow at 5:00, they’ll face Babson College with a chance to reach the Elite 8 for the first time since 2007.The Polar Bears are led by All-Conference guards Katie Bergeron from Old Town and Jill Henrikson from Bath. Bowdoin reached the Sweet 16 after two wins at home last weekend but now are off to Amherst, Massachusetts to face a Babson team that hasn’t lost all year. Team captain and former Bangor Ram Amy Hackett says the team will need to move quickly if they want to keep playing this year.Amy Hackett – Bowdoin Guard”Using speed to our advantage and really running the ball on them will definitely be a huge key in the game just because they are so tall. Just try to get some tough shots in and beat them in transition.”Adrienne Shibles – Bowdoin Head Coach”We’re really excited. The women have worked very hard for this and for this opportunity and we intend to take every advantage of it.”
