Hampden Tables Ordinance Repeal Question, Mayor Resigns 

Folks in Hampden braved the icy road conditions Monday night, to voice their concerns about the newly adopted town comprehensive plan.Many residents believe this plan is too intrusive and takes away a lot of landowner rights.Two of the biggest sticking points are regulations on water and critical natural resources.Hampden town manager Susan Lessard tells TV 5 the council did not vote Monday night on whether to repeal the 2010 plan. Instead, a decision was made to form a committee of citizens to review the current ordinance.Also at Monday night’s meeting, Mayor Matthew Arnett announced that he is resigning, effective immediately.Arnett says he has recently purchased a home in South Carolina.The council will talk about whether a special election will be held, at its next meeting Monday the 21st.
