There will be more talks about the sale of the mills in Millinocket and East Millinocket to Meriturn Partners.Representatives from the towns will meet with Governor Lepage in his Augusta office Tuesday afternoon at 3:30.Approximately 350 people turned out to a meeting in East Millinocket Monday night to discuss the plans to sell the Katahdin Paper mill.Board of Selectman Chairman, Mark Scally said the mood of the meeting was subdued and not emotional. Most of those in attendance wanted to know what they could do to help. The big topic is the requested 48 million dollar tax break Meriturn would like to get from the towns. Most of the talk at the meeting last night surrounded how the school system would be impacted if that drastic of a tax break was given. And Scally said the school would not be able to stay open in that case.Thursday town officials will meet with an assessor and an attorney and then at 10 am Thursday another meeting is scheduled with representatives from Meriturn Partners. The company that currently owns the mill is planning to close it April 22nd if a sale doesn’t go through.
