Searsport Amends Skyline Limits 

Residents in Searsport have voted to change the town’s land use ordinance to clear the way for taller structures.The previous maximum was 125 feet for large items other than buildings. The amendment boosts that up to 150 feet.Saturday’s vote was 79 in favor of the amendment, 66 against.Many residents expressed concerns at the annual town meeting about possible plans for a large propane storage tank in Searsport.A company out of Denver has held two open houses, expressing its desire to build one. DCP Midstream has an option on a piece of local land.Searsport town manager James Gillway says they have not received a proposal from the company, and that changes to the land use ordinance do not automatically give the company permission to build.
