Renovation work on the federal building in downtown Bangor forced the U.S. District Court and Bankruptcy Court to close Friday. The move was a precaution while crews tested the third floor of the Harlow Street building for asbestos. The court’s website says as part of the $53 million renovation project, ceiling tiles were removed and follow up tests showed asbestos contamination on nearby window sills.Follow up tests are planned before that part of the building can re-open.
