An investigation into the chair of the Chelsea Board of Selectman has now expanded to include her husband. A lawyer for the town says the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a number of road contracts issued over the last several years to Marshall Swan. Swan’s wife, Carole, was arrested in February. She’s accused of trying to get a $10,000 kickback from a road contractor.She’s charged with forgery and attempted theft. Town lawyer Stephen Langsdorf says there’s been a concern for some time in the town relating to contracts that were awarded to Marshall Swan and his construction company.He says the Kennebec County Sheriff’s office is investigating those actions. A special town meeting has also been scheduled for March 31st to authorize the use of town money to study the status of those contracts, too.Carole Swan has been on the selectboard for 19 years. She’s currently free on bail and is due in court in May.
