Bangor City Council Sets Vote Dates 

Bangor city councilors have sets dates for two public votes: one on a new arena, and the other on combining dispatch services.At Wednesday night’s meeting, May 4th was chosen as the date for Bangor residents to head to the polls and decide whether they want a new arena in Bangor.A group of local citizens pushed for the referendum. They believe taxpayers, not city councilors, should have the final say.The proposed arena is projected to cost about $65,000,000.Also at Wednesday night’s meeting, city councilors picked November 8th as the date for a public vote on consolidating Bangor dispatch services with Penobscot County.That’s also the date for Maine’s general election.
