Fire Leaves Family of 6 Homeless 

A family of six from Pittsfield lost their house and everything inside it Sunday.Firefighters from several towns responded to a fire at the home of Harvey and Pauline Elderkin and family on Route Two.The Elderkin’s have four children, 14 and 6 year old daughters, and sons ages 19 months and 9 months.The family went to town together and was out of the house for a little more than an hour…..When they came back, the house was a smoldering shell.” No, we got a phone call and when we got here it was all in smokes,” said Pauline Elderkin ” We stayed at my brother in laws last night but we don’t know after that.”The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.Harvey Elderkin told WABI-TV 5 news they believe an electrical problem sparked it.Their insurance agent was there to assess the damage Monday.
