Maine Men’s Hockey Wins 5th Straight, Sweep Weekend Series

Two weeks ago, the Maine hockey team was coming off a 7-2 loss at home to Vermont. Since then, the Black Bears have won four straight and goalie dan Sullivan hasn’t allowed a goal in 180 minutes.Tonight, the Black Bears going for a weekend sweep of Merrimack, the fourth ranked team in the nation. A game you could see on TV Five. It didn’t take long for Maine. Just over two minutes into the game. Mark Nemec with the lazer near the blue line. 1-0 Black Bears.Goalie Dan Sullivan putting in another great game. He didn’t allow a goal in the first period and broke Jimmy Howard’s record for longest goalless streak in program hisotry.1-0 Maine after one, but just 41 seconds into the second period, Brian Flynn adds another goal to his season total. 2-0 Maine.30 seconds later and a Maine power play later, another goal for the Black Bears. Jeff Dimmen with assists from Kyle Beattie and Josh van Dyk. 3-0 Black bears.Merrimack scored to make it 3-1 but the Black Bears put this game away with two more goals in the second period. First, it’s Josh van Dyk with his second goal of the weekend and Kyle Beattie with the fourth goal of the second. Maine up 5-1 going into the 3rd. They go on to win 7-1 over Merrimack. The Black Bears have now won 5 straight games.
