Judge Drops Arson Charges against Augusta Man 

Charges have been dropped against an Augusta man authorities say paid another man to set his home and car on fire. David Davis was charged with two counts of arson and two counts of conspiracy for a fire two years ago that destroyed his home in Augusta and a fire five years ago that destroyed his car in Belgrade.Police said Davis paid another man to set the fires, and Ronald Hanson, Junior of Augusta pleaded guilty.Tuesday, a judge dismissed the charges against Davis saying his attorney didn’t get all the information the state was supposed to give him.The judge did note it was not suggesting any bad faith on the part of the state’s attorney.District Attorney Evert Fowle says the state made every effort to give the attorney all the information they had.Fowle has not decided whether or not to appeal the decision.
