Following Meeting, Swan Still Chair of the Board

Last week Carole Swan, chairman of the board of selectmen in Chelsea, was arrested on charges of aggravated forgery, two counts of improper compensation for services, and attempted theft.Wednesday night a forum was held at Chelsea Elementary School with the town’s now lone selectmen, Mike Pushard, presiding over the meeting. The agenda included discussion and scheduling an election, possibly in late March, to fill another selectmen’s vacant seat and how the town would appropriate money for an audit and legal expenses.Folks were given a chance to speak, and many spoke out about Carole Swan who, despite her arrest, is still the board’s chairman. The 52-year-old Swan is accused of arranging a kickback involving the purchase of road sand for the town, is free on bail.
