Maine Offshore Wind Report Released 

The University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center and the DeepC Wind consortium released the Maine Offshore Wind Report Wednesday.UMaine Professor Habib Dagher is leading statewide efforts to develop the technology and infrastructure that would allow Maine to capitalize on deepwater offshore wind as an energy resource.He says Maine’s coast has the best wind resource offshore on the east coast of the US.Dagher says the report is for investors interested in getting involved with their project.They have mapped out a long-term plan over a span of 20 years. Qith the hopes of by 2030 they will have 5,000 megawatts of floating offshore wind over 20 miles offshore.He says this could bring in 20 billion dollars of private investment to the state and create thousands of jobs.”Now Maine is looked at in Washington DC as the leader in deep water offshore wind technology in the country and they’re looking for us to lead the country in that direction.”That report is available at
