Some local students experienced what life can be like for people living with disabilities. The Trenton Elementary School hosted Special Needs Awareness Day.Students rotated through stations, participating in a variety of physical and emotional challenges. The goal of the event is to increase awareness of living with disabilities. ” So that they grow up understanding that just because you’re in a chair doesn’t mean that you’re not still a person, and that if you have a disability you can do practically anything everyone else can do with certain adaptations,” said Dawn Carros, guest speaker at the event. A service dog was also on hand to explain how important the animal is to those who need it.
