Massachusetts Man Injured in Snowmobile Accident

A Massachusetts man was seriously injured while taking his snowmobile out for one last spin of the day.38-year-old Chadman Boardman was with friends at a camp on Sawyer Road in Greene. The Maine Warden Service says that two of his friends said Boardman was going up Sabattus Lake at approximately 60 to 70 miles per hour when they saw a large cloud of snow and heard the machine stop. They say it appears that the snowmobile’s front end had broken through the slush, causing it to flip end over end.Authorities say the snowmobile went airborne for 30 to 35 feet before coming to a rest upright on top of Boardman’s waist and legs. His friends and another witness were able to lift the snowmobile off him.He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He suffered a large gash to his head, a fractured skull, fractured left eye socket and broken vertebrae in his back and neck.He was not wearing a helmet and speed was a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
