Ton of Pasta Food Drive

This Valentine’s weekend folks could give the gift of pasta.Cumulus Broadcasting stations teamed up for their annual Ton of Pasta Food drive, which will benefit Manna Ministries and area food cupboards. They were broadcasting live from Danforth’s Down Home Supermarket in Hermon and Bell’s Orono IGA.Their goal is to collect a ton of pasta.Organizers say 1 pound of pasta feeds a family of four and is nutritious. They say folks were very generous this year, dropping off five and even ten boxes of pasta.”The state of Maine with 195,000 families that are food insecure and about 21.1% of kids under the age of 18 are not getting sufficient food. This is an important thing. There isn’t a another major food drive going on until the postal worker’s food drive in May,” Said Nelson Jewell from Cumulus Broadcasting. If you didn’t make it out to the pasta drive you can always take donations to Manna Ministries which is located at 659 Main Street in downtown Bangor.
