Maine Men’s Hockey Team Now Winless in Six Straight 

The last few weeks have not been very memorable for the Maine Men’s hockey team. The Black Bears, winless in their last five, hoping that Vermont, the 8th ranked team in Hockey East can be the medicine they need to turn things around.Dan Sullivan in net for Maine. His first game since Maine lost 7-1 at Merrimack on January 8th.There were high hopes going into this one, they were dashed quickly.Four minutes in, Chris McCarthy on the doorstep to poke home the rebound. 1-0 Vermont.Three minutes later, Kyle Medvec, the defenseman, takes it around the net and finishes his rebound. 2-0 Vermont.Nearly 15 minutes in, Vermont makes it look easy on the power play. Jack Downing grabs the goal. 3-0 Catamounts.Dan Sullivan pulled after three goals on nine shots. Martin Ouellette now in net.Maine gets one back, Theo Anderson the junior with his first of the year. 3-1 Catamounts. It was 4-1 UVM after one.Second period, Maine short-handed. Gustav Nyquist with one of the nicest goals for Maine this year. 4-2 Catamounts.However, it continued to snowball from there. UVM score three more goals. They put up a seven spot on Maine. It’s the second time this year the Black Bears have given up seven goals. Maine loses 7-2. The black bears are now winless in their last six.
