Acadia Drew More Than 2.5 Million People Last Year 

Acadia National Park had more than two-and-a-half million people visit the park last year, the highest figure in nearly a decade.Superintendent Sheridan Steele says the estimated figure for 20-10 shows a 14-percent increase over 2009. The national park service says 2002 was the last year as many as two-and-a-half million people visited acadia.Steele believes the poor economy contributed to the increase with people in the northeast staying closer to home for vacations.
