Maine VEX Competition

The Bangor Auditorium was packed with robots and the folks who built them Saturday. It was the third annual Maine Vex Robotic Championship which is put on by the University of Maine Black Bear Robotics Club. The competition is for middle school and high school students. This is the first year they have had it at the auditorium.Event Director, David Hart says the event has become so popular that they outgrew their former location. This year’s challenge was called “Round up.” The robots were designed to place rings on goal posts in arenas set up throughout the auditorium.”It’s great for all the kids involved because it gives them a hands-on application of what they learn in the classroom with their math and science. This gives them a practical place to apply it using engineering mind set to solve problems.”The Vex Competition is a nationwide event and there are more than 3,600 teams across the nation.
