Wet Roads Cause Accident

All the snow is creating some dangerous road conditions. This morning, two people were taken to the hospital after an accident on Route 1A in Brewer.Police say 48-year old, Susan Walton, lost control of her pick-up truck and swerved into the lane next to her.Walton hit 76-year old Duane Lane, of Brewer, who was heading in the opposite direction.Police want to remind drivers that even though the storm is over, the roads are still slippery.”The problem is usually the day after the storm is when we have the problems. People seem to forget how treacherous the traveling can be the day after,” said Sgt. Arden Jones of Brewer Police Department. We’re told there were no passengers in either car, but the drivers were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Police say Walton’s windshield was covered in snow and ice, which probably made it difficult for her to see.No charges have been filed.
