Maine Schools Face Large Budget Shortfalls 

Maine public school systems are facing a $60,000,000 reduction in state education aid when federal economic recovery money runs out in June. The stimulus money has sustained many districts through the last three years.The lack of funding could reportedly jeopardize about 1,200 school jobs, increase class sizes, and close schools.With additional federal funding cuts, the Maine Department of Education may not get the $877,000,000 it wants for state education aid.
