Bangor Savings Bank to Give Out 100K to Non-Profits

Catherine Pegram

Dozens of non-profit organizations are vying for a chance at thousands of dollars. And it’ll take your vote to get it. Bangor Savings Bank is offering 68 organizations a total of $100,000. The give-away is for the bank’s yearly campaign called Community Matters More. 48 non-profits in eight regions of the state are currently on the ballot. The highest vote-getter in each region receives $5,000. The others get $1,000. Senior Vice President Yellow Light Breen says there are also 20 slots open for write-in candidates. “We’ve seen in past years one of the things that really gets people jazzed up is the ability to say, look you missed of one of mine. And they just go ahead and mount these write-in campaigns and once or twice, we’ve had one of the write-in organizations actually wine one of the top prizes, not just one of the smaller grants.”You can find ballots at all of the non-profit organizations and at any Bangor Savings branch. Or you can go online to, then click on Community Matters More.Voting ends March 7th. Winners will be announced at the end of that month.
